Gamers Warehouse buys phones, tablets, consoles, controllers and retro games for cash at our store inside Tucson Mall, and we pay on the spot once we have checked the device. Because we repair hardware ourselves — including board-level work most shops decline — we can often make an offer on devices a trade-in kiosk rejects outright.

## The three ways to sell, honestly compared

Mail-in services quote a high figure online and then re-inspect on arrival. The re-inspection frequently lowers the offer, and at that point your device is already in their possession and returning it costs you time. The headline number is rarely the number you receive.

Marketplace selling gets the highest price if you are willing to do the work: photographs, listing, messages, no-shows, and meeting strangers. For a valuable and undamaged device it can be worth it. For a mid-range phone it usually is not, once you count the hours.

In-store cash is the fastest and the most certain. You know the number before you hand anything over, and it does not change afterwards. It will not beat a good private sale on a pristine flagship, and we will not pretend otherwise.

## What actually moves the price

Model and storage capacity set the range. Condition sets where in that range you land — screen condition first, then back glass, then frame. Battery health matters on phones and matters a lot on older ones.

Two things affect the offer more than people expect. Activation lock is absolute: a device still signed into an iCloud or Google account is unsellable to anyone until it is signed out, because it cannot be reset for the next owner. And cracked back glass costs more at resale than repairing it typically costs, which is worth checking before you sell rather than after.

## Broken devices are still worth asking about

A console with a failed HDMI port, a phone with a cracked screen, a laptop that will not boot — these are repairable to us, which means they have value that a generic buy-back algorithm does not see. Do not assume a broken device is worth nothing; bring it in and find out.

Retro is its own category. Older consoles, cartridges and discs have a market that fluctuates and that a trade-in kiosk will not price properly at all. We do.

## Preparing your device

Back up whatever you want to keep. Sign out of iCloud, Find My iPhone or your Google account. Factory reset if you are comfortable doing so — we can do it with you at the counter if not. Remove SIM and memory cards. Bring the charger and any accessories you still have, because they add to the offer.

Bring photo ID. That is a legal requirement for second-hand purchases and it is not negotiable anywhere reputable.

## Trade rather than sell

If you are replacing the device anyway, a trade-in against a repair, a console or another device in stock usually leaves you better off than taking cash and buying separately. Ask us to price it both ways — it takes a minute and the difference is sometimes significant.

We are inside Tucson Mall at 4500 N Oracle Rd, Ste 204, open Mon–Sat 9am–9pm and Sun 10am–6pm. Valuations are free and there is no obligation to sell.

## Sign out before you come in

This is the single most common reason a sale stalls at the counter. A phone still signed into iCloud or a Google account cannot be reset for a new owner, which makes it unsellable to anybody until it is signed out — and if you no longer have the password, that has to be resolved with Apple or Google rather than with us.

Do it at home where you have access to your email and any two-factor codes. It takes a couple of minutes there and can take a couple of days otherwise.

## What raises the offer

Original charger and cable, the box if you still have it, and a case and screen protector that have kept the device in good condition. Higher storage capacities are worth meaningfully more. A recently replaced battery is worth mentioning, because battery health is one of the first things we check.

What lowers it: cracked glass front or back, a device that has been opened before, activation lock, and heavy frame damage. None of those make a device worthless — they change the number.

## Consoles and retro

For consoles, bring the controllers, the power lead and the HDMI cable. A console sold complete is worth more than the same console on its own, and the cables cost us money to source separately.

Retro hardware and games are priced individually because the market moves. Cartridges, discs, boxed items and working CRT-era hardware all have value that an automated buy-back will not recognise at all. Bring the box of old games rather than assuming.

## No obligation

A valuation is free and there is no pressure to accept. If our number is lower than you hoped we will tell you why, and if a private sale would clearly serve you better we will say that too.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Do you pay cash for phones and consoles?

Yes — we settle in store once we have checked the device over. There is no waiting for a mail-in company to inspect it and revise the offer downward.

### Will you buy a broken device?

Often, yes. Because we repair devices ourselves including board-level work, hardware a trade-in kiosk would reject outright can still be worth something to us.

### What do I need to bring?

Photo ID and the device, plus any charger or accessories. Sign out of Find My iPhone or your Google account first — we cannot buy an activation-locked device.

### How much will I get?

It depends on model, storage, condition and current market, so we quote per device rather than publishing a list that would be wrong within a week. Bring it in for a free valuation or call and describe it.

### Can I put it toward a repair instead?

Yes. A trade-in can go toward a repair, a console, or another device we have in stock — often the better outcome than taking cash.
