Pixel 9 Pro Repair in Tucson

Google Pixel Repair at Gamers Warehouse in Tucson

We repair the Pixel 9 Pro, and the first step is making sure it really is the Pro. From the front it is easy to mistake for the standard Pixel 9: both have 6.3-inch screens and 4,700 mAh batteries. Inside they differ. The 9 Pro uses Google's Super Actua LTPO panel instead of the Actua panel, its matte back glass sits in a polished aluminum frame instead of a glossy back in a matte frame, and its camera bar holds a third camera, a 5x telephoto.

None of those parts swap between the two phones, so the model matters when you call (520) 477-8822 for a firm quote in place of the estimate in the table. Screens, back glass, batteries, ports and camera covers are the repairs we see on this model.

Super Actua screen replacement and the ultrasonic sensor

The 9 series was the first Pixel generation with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the display. It is more tolerant of wet or dirty fingers than the older optical sensors, but it has to work through whatever screen is fitted, so after a display replacement we test fingerprint unlock before you leave.

Because the Super Actua panel is an LTPO display that changes its refresh rate on the fly, faults sometimes show only at certain moments: flicker when scrolling slows, or a band that appears at low brightness. Note when it happens; it helps us confirm a panel fault rather than a software one.

Three cameras, three lens covers

With three cameras in the bar, a face-up drop has more lens cover to crack. If photos from one lens come out hazy or flared while the others look sharp, that is the lens to check. A cracked cover is usually a cheaper fix than a damaged camera module, as long as loose glass hasn't scratched the lens beneath. Bring the phone in and we'll tell you which it is.

A useful test is to photograph a bright light, such as a ceiling lamp, at 0.5x, 1x and 5x. A cracked cover usually shows up as a streak or starburst that appears at only one zoom level. A camera that hunts for focus, shakes, or shows a black screen at one zoom level has a damaged module, often from the impact itself rather than the broken glass.

Matte back glass on the 9 Pro

The 9 Pro's back is glass with a matte finish, and it cracks like any glass when the phone lands flat on it. The wireless charging coil sits behind it; the 9 Pro charges at up to 21W on a second-generation Pixel Stand, so a phone that has started charging slowly on its stand after a drop often has a back problem. A replacement panel needs to be the 9 Pro part, both for the camera cut-out and so the finish matches your frame.

Battery or port: the 9 Pro's charging questions

The 9 Pro charges at up to 27W by cable. If it has dropped to slow charging, swap the cable and adapter before anything else, then check the port for lint. Settings, About phone, Battery information shows the battery's cycle count, and the battery health screen reports Reduced once capacity falls below 80 percent. Either a Reduced status or a phone that no longer lasts a day points to a battery replacement rather than a port.

Repair or replace a damaged Pixel 9 Pro?

A 9 Pro with a cracked screen or back is well worth repairing; it is a recent phone with years of software updates still ahead of it, and the parts we replace are the parts that failed. If the fault appeared without any drop or spill, check Google’s warranty first. If you have a protection plan, compare its cost with our quote. Once a 9 Pro has been opened, treat its water resistance as reduced and keep it away from pools and showers.

Before your Pixel 9 Pro visit

Back up photos and files, and bring your PIN so we can test fingerprint unlock, all three cameras and charging when the work is done. A hardware repair leaves your data in place. If you'd rather it stayed private, turn on Repair mode under Settings, System before you come in. Our store is inside Tucson Mall.
