Phone Back Glass Repair in Tucson

Cell Phone Repair at Gamers Warehouse in Tucson

Yes, we replace cracked back glass on iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones, and we quote other glass-backed phones by model. It is a separate repair from the screen, and it is worth doing for more than looks. On a glass-backed phone the back panel is part of the water seal, so once it cracks the phone is no longer meaningfully protected against a monsoon downpour or a spilled drink. Cracks also spread: a single line becomes a web, and loose fragments work their way toward the camera housing and the wireless charging coil that sits right behind the panel.

For iPhones, our published back glass prices run from $149 on the iPhone 14 Plus to $299.99 on the iPhone 11 Pro Max. For Samsung phones they run from $29 on the Samsung S3 to $159 on the Samsung S21 Ultra. Pixels and other glass-backed phones are quoted by model, so call (520) 477-8822 with yours and we will give you a firm number.

Glass back, plastic back or aluminum? Check what your phone has

Not every phone has a glass back. Flagship iPhones, Galaxy S phones and the main Pixel models do, but Google's lower-priced Pixel a-series phones and many Galaxy A models use plastic backs that scuff and dent rather than shatter. The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are aluminum across most of the back, with only a glass section below the cameras. If the back of your phone is cracked rather than scratched, it is glass, and it needs replacing rather than polishing.

Why the price varies between phones that look alike

Where the back is designed to come off, the job is straightforward: warm the adhesive, lift the old panel, scrape the frame clean of glue and glass dust, then bond a new panel in place. Where the glass is bonded to the frame that also carries the board and cameras, the phone has to be stripped much further to do it properly. Two phones can look almost identical and fall on opposite sides of that line.

On Samsung Galaxy phones, the back panel is usually the way into the phone for battery and charging repairs as well, so it is designed to come off and go back on. On iPhones it depends on the model: the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, and every iPhone 15 model, were redesigned so the back glass can be replaced on its own, while earlier models, including the iPhone 14 Pro, have glass bonded to the frame.

Is the wireless charging coil damaged too? How to tell

If wireless charging has become slow or unreliable since the glass broke, mention it — the two are usually related, and we check the coil before the phone goes back together. A quick test: if the phone charges normally through the cable but stops and starts on a pad, or runs hot on it, the coil or its connection is the likely cause. On MagSafe iPhones, a charger that no longer snaps firmly into place is another sign that something behind the glass has moved.

Back glass plus camera covers: one visit or two?

On many phones the rear camera covers sit in or right next to the back panel, so a drop that cracks one often cracks the other. Check each rear lens by taking a photo with it. If any shot is hazy or flared, ask for the lens cover to be done in the same visit; it is cheaper than coming back for it.

Water resistance after a back glass repair

A new back panel is bonded with fresh adhesive, which closes the gap the crack opened. Even so, water resistance on any phone is not permanent; Apple says it can decrease with normal wear, and the same is true of every brand. After any repair that opens the phone, treat it as protected against splashes and rain rather than something to take into a pool. Liquid damage isn't covered by manufacturer warranties, so it is not worth testing.

Keep the case on, or fix it?

A case can hold broken glass together, but it doesn't restore the seal and the shards keep shifting. If you are keeping the phone, fix the back before the cracks spread. If you are about to trade it in, the repair often costs less than the value a cracked back takes off. Either way, back the phone up first and bring your passcode or PIN so we can test charging and the cameras before you leave. Walk in at our store inside Tucson Mall, or call ahead to check the panel for your model is in stock.
