iPhone Back Glass Repair in Tucson

Yes, we replace cracked iPhone back glass, and it is its own repair, separate from the screen. Its price varies more between iPhone models than almost any other job. On some models the back glass can be removed and replaced on its own; on others it is fused to the chassis, and doing the job properly means far more disassembly. Our published iPhone back glass prices run from $149 on the iPhone 14 Plus to $299.99 on the iPhone 11 Pro Max, and the table on this page lists every model we price.
It is worth fixing for more than looks. The back panel is part of the phone's water seal, cracks spread under normal flexing, and loose fragments end up in the camera housing and against the wireless charging coil behind the glass. A cracked back also costs you more at trade-in than the repair does.
Which iPhones have removable back glass, and why it changes the price
For years, the back glass on an iPhone was bonded directly to the frame, so replacing it meant working the old glass off a part that also holds the board, cameras and battery. That is still the situation on many older models, including the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Starting with the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, and then across the iPhone 15 lineup including the Pro models, Apple redesigned the inside so the back panel can be opened and replaced as its own part. That is the main reason two phones that look alike can sit far apart in the price table.
The 2025 models changed again. The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max have an aluminum unibody where only a section of the back below the camera plateau is glass, which Apple calls Ceramic Shield; that panel is replaceable on its own. The iPhone Air uses a Ceramic Shield back across the whole rear, including the plateau.
Cracked back glass and wireless charging: how to tell if the coil is involved
Pressure and glass fragments against the coil are why a phone with broken back glass often charges slowly, intermittently or hot on a wireless pad. On MagSafe models the magnet ring and charging coil sit right behind the panel. If a MagSafe charger no longer snaps into place firmly, or charging stops and starts as the phone sits on the pad, mention it when you come in, because we check the coil before the phone is closed up. If wired charging is fine and only wireless charging misbehaves, the coil or its connection is the usual suspect rather than the battery.
What the repair involves
The panel is heated to soften the adhesive and removed, the frame is cleaned of old adhesive and glass fragments, and a new panel is fitted and bonded. If the cracks also run through the camera lens covers, that is a second repair, and it is cheaper to have both done in one visit.
Cleaning matters as much as the new panel. Glass dust left behind in the frame works its way into the camera housing and scratches the lenses from the inside, and old adhesive left in place keeps the new panel from seating flush, which weakens the seal.
Back glass, camera covers or the frame? Reading the damage
Look at the phone from the side as well as the back. Cracks that stop at the camera plateau are a back glass job. Cracks that run across a lens cover, or photos that suddenly show haze or flare, add a camera lens cover repair. A corner that is dented inward, or a back panel that sits higher on one side, can mean the frame took the impact too. A bent frame doesn't always stop the repair, but we want to know about it before quoting.
Is it worth repairing, or should you just use a case?
A thick case hides the cracks, but it doesn't restore the seal or stop the shards. If you are keeping the phone, a back glass repair before the cracks spread is the sensible move, especially through monsoon season. If you plan to sell or trade it soon, the repair usually pays for itself in the higher value. On an older model you are about to replace anyway, keeping a case on it and moving your data over is a reasonable choice too, and we will say so.
Preparing your iPhone for a back glass repair
Back it up if you haven't recently. A back glass job doesn't touch your data, but a backup is your safety net. Bring the passcode so we can test wireless charging and the cameras before you leave, and take off the case and any MagSafe accessories. Your phone stays with us at our Tucson Mall store throughout the repair.
