Pixel 8 Repair in Tucson

Google Pixel Repair at Gamers Warehouse in Tucson

We repair the Pixel 8, Google's compact 2023 phone with flagship materials: a 6.2-inch Actua OLED that runs at up to 120Hz, Gorilla Glass Victus on both the front and the back, an aluminum frame and a 4,575 mAh battery, with an IP68 rating. The Pixel 8a looks similar, but it has a smaller 6.1-inch screen, Gorilla Glass 3 and a composite back.

Make sure we know which one you have when you call (520) 477-8822, because the screens, backs and prices are different. That call turns the estimate in the table into a firm quote. Screens, back glass, batteries and charging ports are the usual Pixel 8 jobs.

Glass on both sides: front, back or both

Because the Pixel 8 has glass on both sides, a drop can crack the front, the back or both. Back damage isn't only cosmetic: the wireless charging coil sits directly behind the panel, and a shattered back lets dust and moisture reach parts the glass was protecting. If both sides are cracked, doing them in one visit saves you taking the phone apart twice.

If only the back is cracked and the phone otherwise works, you can keep using it for a short while with clear tape over the break. Keep it away from water in the meantime, because the IP68 rating assumes intact glass and seals.

Reading the signs of a damaged Actua display

The Actua display is bright and sharp, which makes damage obvious. A green line running top to bottom, a flickering band, or an area that no longer registers touch means the panel itself has failed, not just the glass.

The Pixel 8 uses an optical fingerprint sensor under the screen. It reads through the display, so after a replacement it is calibrated to the new panel, and we check fingerprint unlock works before the phone goes back to you.

Camera bar damage on the Pixel 8

The Pixel 8 keeps the full-width camera bar, with the main camera and ultrawide behind glass covers. A drop onto a hard edge can crack a cover without touching the camera behind it. Photograph a bright scene at 1x and at 0.5x: if one shows a soft haze, a flare streak or a fixed mark, that lens cover is broken. Blurry focus, a shaking image or a black viewfinder means the camera module has been damaged and has to be replaced.

Battery health and charging faults on the Pixel 8

Google's Battery information screen, with its cycle count and manufacture date, arrived with the Pixel 8a, so on the Pixel 8 you judge the battery by how it behaves. The warning signs are a phone that needs charging twice a day when it used to manage one, sudden shutdowns at 15 or 20 percent, or a phone that runs warm in your pocket. A battery that swells pushes the back glass outward, so a gap along the back edge is a reason to stop charging and come in.

The Pixel 8 charges at up to 27W by cable and wirelessly at up to 18W on a second-generation Pixel Stand or 12W on other Qi chargers. Use that to your advantage. If wireless works and the cable doesn't, the USB-C port is the problem, and a flashlight will often show lint packed inside. If the cable works and wireless doesn't, a cracked back or a thick case is the usual cause.

Is the Pixel 8 worth repairing?

In most cases, yes. Google promised the Pixel 8 a long software update period, so a phone with a cracked screen, a broken back or a tired battery usually has plenty of life left once the part is replaced. Check Google’s support site for the exact update date if you’re deciding between a repair and an upgrade. If the screen and back both need doing, ask us to quote them together, and we’ll be straight with you if the total doesn’t make sense.

Preparing your Pixel 8 for repair

Back up to your Google account and bring your PIN so we can test unlock and charging at the end. A hardware repair doesn't reset the phone. The Pixel 8 also has Repair mode under Settings, System: it keeps your personal data inaccessible while the phone is with us, and you exit it with your PIN when you get the phone back. You will find our counter on the upper level of Tucson Mall.
