How the iPad mini 7 usually breaks

Batteries fade faster on minis used heavily for reading, maps or games with the screen on for hours. The battery sits under the display, so replacing it means removing the screen first. If the glass is already cracked, doing both in one visit makes sense.
Is a cracked mini 7 safe to keep using?
For a short time, usually yes, with care. A cracked laminated screen holds together better than loose glass, but splinters can lift at the edges of a crack and cut a fingertip. A strip of clear packing tape or an inexpensive screen protector over the damage keeps the surface smooth until the repair.
Watch for changes. A crack that spreads, touch that starts registering on its own, or a dark patch that grows means the LCD layer is getting worse, and continued use can make it fail entirely. If the mini has been in water or the crack reaches the edge where moisture can get in, power it off and bring it in rather than waiting.
Avoid pressing on the damaged area to test it. Pressure on a cracked laminated panel is how a small fault becomes a large one.
