Pixel 7a Repair in Tucson

Pixel 7a battery swelling and Google's extended repair program
Google acknowledged that some Pixel 7a batteries swell and ran an extended repair program offering battery replacement for affected phones. The signs are a back panel or screen that starts to separate from the frame, a phone that looks thicker than it used to, a battery that drains far faster than it used to, or a phone that won't charge at all. If you see any of those, stop charging the phone.
Check Google's Pixel support site to see whether your phone is covered and what the current terms are, since eligibility depends on where and when the phone was bought. If it isn't covered, or you'd rather not wait, we can replace the battery.
A swelling battery pushes on the display from behind, so a 7a with a lifted screen sometimes needs a new display as well. Pressure can crack the OLED from underneath even when the glass looks fine, which shows up as lines, a dark patch or touch that stops working in one area. We look at the phone first and tell you what it needs and what it costs before you commit.
Cracked 7a screens and the optical fingerprint sensor
Gorilla Glass 3 is softer than the Victus glass on the Pixel 7, so the 7a's screen picks up scratches and cracks more readily. Its fingerprint sensor is optical and sits under the display, so after a screen replacement the sensor is calibrated to the new panel and tested before we hand the phone back. You will likely need to enroll your fingerprints again.
Camera visor damage on the 7a
The 7a’s metal camera visor is raised from the back, so it still takes the knock when the phone falls flat. The lens covers inside it can crack while the cameras behind them keep working. Take a photo with the main camera and one with the ultrawide; a haze or streak in only one of them points to its cover, and fixing the cover early keeps loose glass off the lens.
Charging trouble: port, battery or wireless coil?
The 7a gives you two ways to charge, which makes diagnosis easier. If it charges on a wireless pad but not on a cable, the USB-C port is the likely fault, often just packed lint. If it charges by cable but not wirelessly, look at the pad and the phone's case first. If it won't charge either way, or charges and then drains in a couple of hours, suspect the battery, and given this model's history, check it for swelling.
Is a Pixel 7a worth repairing?
For a battery, the answer is usually yes, especially if Google’s program covers yours. For a cracked screen on a phone that otherwise works well, repair is generally good value.
