Pixel 7 Repair in Tucson
We repair the Pixel 7, and the first thing to know is that it is built differently from its cheaper sibling, the 7a. It has a 6.3-inch 90Hz OLED with Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and the back, the aluminum camera bar runs the full width of the phone, and it is rated IP68. The 7a has a smaller 6.1-inch screen, Gorilla Glass 3, and a plastic back. A glass back can shatter, so on the Pixel 7, back damage is a repair in its own right rather than a cosmetic scuff.
The Pixel 7 is now a few years old, so alongside drop damage we see plenty of worn batteries and charging ports. Call (520) 477-8822 with what's wrong and we'll give you a firm quote in place of the estimate in the table, or bring it to our Tucson Mall store and we'll look at it first.
Cracked Pixel 7 back glass and wireless charging
With a cracked back, the wireless charging coil sits right behind the glass, and loose fragments end up around the camera bar. The Pixel 7 charges wirelessly at up to 20W on Google's second-generation Pixel Stand, so a phone that has become slow or patchy on its stand since a drop usually has a back problem, not a battery problem.
The full-width camera bar also means a flat drop onto the back can crack the glass on either side of it. Cover sharp edges with clear tape until the repair, and keep the phone dry; a cracked back no longer keeps water out.
Screen or display? What the Pixel 7 is telling you
With a cracked screen, the question is whether the OLED is damaged too: lines, black blotches or dead touch areas mean a full display assembly, while a clean picture under broken glass is the better case. A green tint or a flickering band at low brightness is another display fault, separate from cracks.
The fingerprint sensor reads through the screen optically, so after a display replacement it is calibrated to the new panel and tested. Plan to register your fingerprints again.
Pixel 7 battery: when replacement makes sense
The Pixel 7 shipped with a 4,355 mAh battery, and after a few years of daily charging the battery is often the part that has worn out. If it dies by mid-afternoon, shuts down with charge still showing, or gets hot during light use, a new battery is usually cheaper than a new phone. A back panel that has started to bulge or lift from the frame is a different matter: stop charging the phone and bring it in, because that is a swelling battery.
Camera bar and charging port wear on the Pixel 7
The aluminum bar protects the cameras from most knocks, but the glass covers over the lenses still crack when the phone lands on them. Switch between the main camera and the ultrawide; if one is hazy or shows a fixed streak, that cover has gone. A camera that can’t focus or shows black needs the module itself replaced.
After a few years of daily plugging in, the USB-C port is the other part that tends to wear. A loose fit or a connection that drops when the cable moves usually means lint packed in the port or worn contacts, and cleaning is the first thing we try.
Repairing an older Pixel: what to weigh
A Pixel 7 with one problem, say a worn battery or a cracked back, is generally worth fixing. If it needs a screen, a back and a battery at once, compare the total with what a newer phone would cost you, and check Google's support site for how long the Pixel 7 will keep receiving updates. We'll quote each repair separately so you can choose what to do. We also buy, sell and trade phones if you decide to move on.
Getting the Pixel 7 ready for repair
Back up your phone and bring your PIN. Hardware repairs don't wipe your data, and the Pixel 7 supports Repair mode under Settings, System, which locks your personal data away while the phone stays testable. If you want front and back done, ask for both in one visit so the phone is opened once.
